I believe that avoiding packaged foods is the first step so that you can lose weight. They might taste great, but packaged foods have very little vitamins and minerals, making you consume more in order to have enough power to get through the day. For anyone who is constantly eating these foods, changing to grain and other complex carbohydrates will let you have more electricity while ingesting less. Good blog post.
