Two years ago I posted on "the most exciting football game I ever saw" (Texas v. Texas Tech). Saturday's Rose Bowl game (T C U v Wisconsin) was a great if not Classic football game with pretty evenly matched teams but more than exciting it was a blast to the past. In my Happy Days are Here Again post, I said:After university he worked for a number of years in the international tour industry in operations and management before moving to a remote village on the west coast of Vancouver Island where he is currently the editor and publisher of The Record newspaper serving the Nootka Sound region. He is a Past President of the Northern California Land Trust, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Either way, a far cry from anywhere near a majority, and the fact that more people know about them now than a year ago is only a testimony to how much noise they make, not whether it makes sense or not, and knowing about does not equate to support, could be just the opposite. Also, since polls have found them both richer and with more intelligence than the average American, that puts them above ordinary and closer to the privileged class.
Mining indices, including nickel, are on the upswing. Nickel prices troughed in Q1 2009 and have been rising since, as the economy shows some early signs of recovery. Unfortunately there is uncertainty relating to the length of the strike affecting 3,100 members of the United Steelworkers Local 6500. However the current commodity price rebound will form a solid long term foundation for growth in the broader Sudbury economy After plateauing in 2006 2007, Sudbury sales fell 13 per cent in 2008 and have fallen a further 26 per cent to the end of September.Dept. of Agriculture making hayAn executive order has been issued waiving size restrictions and permit fees on oversized loads of hay enroute to Texas. Currently, 44 of the 50 states have a boating safety education requirement in place. Statistics show that the states with the longest history of boating education requirements also have the lowest average fatality rates in the country; the six states without the requirement have triple their fatality rates. Delaware Office of Boating Safety was created in 1972, and the state has one of the lowest boating accident rates in the country.
Not the highly touted Vancouver Canucks. Nope. Last year Stanley Cup finalist is off to a lousy start which has caused the locals to go a little cuckoo. Goaltender Roberto Luongo he of the 12 year contract that runs through 2021 22 is off to a typical stinky start with a 2 2 1 record featuring a 3.17 goals against average (33rd in the NHL) and .977 save percentage (34th).
Beck said police tried to reach witnesses listed by the family's legal staff but were unable to successfully speak to any.The suit also claimed that the city, LAPD and 10 unnamed superiors or other officers were part of a culture that tolerated civil rights violations, including racial profiling and excessive force against blacks.Tyler Izen, president of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, said in a statement that the autopsy presented only "one set of facts among many hundreds being collected and assessed in the ongoing investigation.""LAPD officers are put directly in harm's way every day as they face complex situations, unthinkable dangers and split second decisions while protecting the residents of Los Angeles," Izen said.Fisher and his staff have installed more live action periods in practice thus far, so in other words more offense vs. defense periods and more guys playing multiple positions within their own unit to gain experience in case they have to play at another spot within their unit during the season if someone goes down.

Saying he is "open" to the idea does not make the Speaker a RINO. It all depends on what he gets from the POTUS in return. If the Speaker can achieve $5 $6T in spending reductions, changes to the Federal Tax Code that are fair to all Americans (not just the 47% who pay no Fed tax) and in return gives up tax breaks to oil companies that is a great deal for the United States, its people, and our economy. The Speaker would be a fool to insist on spending reductions and tax changes only. Until the Republicans control the White House, 60 seats in the Senate and a majority in the House, COMPROMISE is the only answer.
Case in point: 300 is the fastest selling next generation title so far, according to Warner Bros., which says it sold 250,000 high definition copies of it in the first week. (How fitting that the most successful next generation movie thus far is about a group of warriors waging an unwinnable battle).
That's a welcome change but it shouldn't be so hard to get people to do the right thing in this city. This RFP process has been plagued by problems, from a chairperson with an agenda to an aversion to honest competition to an on again, off again attitude toward transparency, so this last minute bow to openness won't make everything right. But it at least helps bring the people back into what's supposed to be a public process. bids to lease city owned Memorial Health System will be presented publicly, by the bidders themselves, at a town hall meeting in December, says Jan Martin, City Council president pro tem and chair of the City Council Memorial Task Force.
The problem, far from unique for cash strapped governments, is finding money to implement the idea. Yakima County had looked at using sales and use tax money that is earmarked for public facilities and economic development. Another problem is, nothing in state law specifically allows for the Supporting Investments in Economic Development, or SIED money, to be used for the water banks.
